“PLASTIC RELAY” project

Mitsubishi Electric has developed the “AI Smart Electrostatic Separation,” an AI-powered technology that automatically separates mixed plastic waste with exceptional precision. The meticulous nature of this process bears a striking resemblance to “Synchronized Walking (Shudan Kodo),” the highly disciplined group performance famously practiced at Nippon Sport Science University.

In the “PLASTIC RELAY” project, the members of NSSU’s synchronized walking team helped to visualize this AI-driven sorting process by wearing three different shirt colors, each representing a different type of plastic.

Our aim was to spark a sense of excitement and wonder at the extraordinary accuracy and technological prowess behind Mitsubishi Electric’s innovation, through entertainment that captivates audiences with flawlessly synchronized group movement.
