In October 2002, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of McCann Erickson’s headquarters in New York, various corporate citizenship projects were launched in local offices in over 120 countries. Make-A-Wish of Japan (MAWJ) was the chosen organization for the Japan Office.

MAWJ is an official affiliate of Make-A-Wish Foundation International, an international volunteer organization dedicated to realizing the wishes of children fighting life-threatening diseases. MAWJ arranges, executes, and bears the full cost of fulfilling the wishes of ill children from 3 to 17 years old. As of May 2012, over 1800 wishes have been granted, including swimming with wild dolphins, visiting NASA, and seeing a whale.

Funds for the wish-granting are raised through donations by corporate, organizational, and individual donors, as well as through profits from MAWJ-hosted charity events and proceeds from the sale of original merchandise. In 2012, many events have been planned throughout the year to celebrate MAWJ’s 20 years of charitable work in Japan. To find out more, please visit:

The FUKKATSU Project was launched by McCann Worldgroup as a way to aid in the country’s rebuilding efforts after the 3.11 earthquake of 2011. From monetary donations to on-site volunteer work, MWG will continue to contribute in whatever way it can to help drive Japan’s recovery.
